Program: Fall Fly Fishing at Gray Reef

Speaker: Chris ConwayWild Basin Outfitters

"One of the richest fisheries in the United States", is one quote that describes the Gray Reef section of the North Platte River outside of Casper, Wyoming.  With a documented count of over 4,000 fish per mile, and our personal history of boating both good numbers and size of fish, we have to agree.  Fall fishing on the "Reef" is a time for attracting big, aggressive, spawning Brown trout using streamers.  There is a hatch of Tricos in August that is one of the few times you can fish dries on the "Reef", but in the Fall we lead with big streamers.  Autumn Splendor, long leech and double bunny flies, Muddlers, Hot Heads, and a host of other streamers will draw aggressive strikes that will put a serious bend in your 8-weight rod.
With fish measured in pounds more often than inches, be sure you set some time aside to come out and hear about fishing the Fall and Spring seasons, when most of our local rivers are still frozen or blown out.
